Apple updates Final Cut Camera with iPhone 18 Pro variable aperture support

Apple's Final Cut Camera gets a major software update with version 2.4. It redesigns the professional video capture app and adds support for the iPhone 18 Pro’s new Fusion Main camera. The update allows creators to use variable aperture controls directly in the app, offering precise manual adjustments alongside dedicated aperture priority and shutter priority modes.

Additionally, the redesigned interface improves access to core exposure settings like shutter angle, ISO, and white balance while adding a live tally light, a two-finger viewfinder clear gesture, focus peaking sensitivity controls, and post-capture Cinematic mode depth controls for ProRes and Apple Log footage.

The release also introduces a suite of broadcast-level tools made possible by iOS 27. Video creators now have access to professional monitoring scopes including an RGB Parade and histogram, as well as clean SDI output via HDMI-to-SDI converters for live streaming.

Additionally, a new genlock offset setting allows filmmakers to compensate for latency or display artifacts when syncing the iPhone with external camera rigs. This version of the app is now available as a free software update on the App Store.
