VW's new ad campaign sets out to rebuild trust by featuring its greatest hits

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

Volkswagen's new ad campaign is simple, touching and effective. Showing many of the great Volkswagen vehicles that have been a part of many people's lives and have built a reputation for reliability and quality for the company, shows that moving beyond last year's scandal is a top priority for the company. The ad itself is classic VW and manages to tug at the heartstrings of anyone who has been loyal to the brand or has been emotionally invested in its products. While the TV spot we see above is coming to Europe, the entire campaign will be global and will ecompass print and Internet advertising as well.

Nissan reports record EV sales despite drop in Leaf demand

Renault-Nissan has reported record EV sales in 2015 despite a drop in sales of its Nissan Leaf electric vehicle. Global sales of Renault-Nissan's battery-powered vehicles rose 2.5 percent to a record 84,754 last year even though there was a slowdown in demand for the Nissan Leaf, the world’s best-selling electric vehicle.

The Leaf is the world's best-selling EV, with more than 201,000 vehicles sold since it launched in 2010, the statement said. In total, all-time EV sales by the alliance were 302,000 at the end of 2015. The reason for buyers passing on the Leaf is that it has a shorter EV range than newer models like the Chevy Bolt EV which is expected to ship at the end of the year.

Glide brings video messaging to Android Wear devices with speakers

Glide, is a video messaging app that is coming to Android Wear today, finally making high-speed wrist communication a reality. Glide’s new app offers live video, voice and photo messaging on the wrist, and is among the first to harness Android Wear’s new speaker support, which Google announced today.

“For decades, television shows and movies like The Jetsons, Dick Tracy, James Bond and Inspector Gadget have promised the arrival of real-time video communication from the wrist,” said Glide CEO Ari Roisman. “Today, Glide is making science fiction a reality by delivering live video messaging to Android Wear.”

Glide users wearing the Huawei Watch or the 49mm ASUS ZenWatch 2 – both of which have built-in speakers – can view and listen to video messages directly on their wrists (Android Wear watches without speakers direct audio to the phone). All Glide users with Android Wear can now watch videos live or later, and send dictated text, emojis, or live voice messages directly from their watches.
