HealthKit app Deadline tells you when you’re going to die

There’s nothing like a visual reminder of your impending death to keep you on your toes or creep you out immensely. A new HealthKit app for iOS 8 called Deadline is designed to let you know when you’re supposed to bite the dust. It makes use of a short quiz and HealthKit functionality to let you know when you’re supposed to die. It uses your answer and HealthKit information to calculate a generic algorithm for your death. It even has a timer that counts down to your death, which you can turn into a widget on your screen (if this is your kind of thing). Morbidness aside, it’s the kind of thing we’d need to remind us that life is short and we better get some living done.

Japanese-designed umbrella can stand on its own

Umbrellas are a staple for any weather condition. It is useful but it can get rather unwieldy at times and break kind of easily. Japanese designer Oki Sato is hoping to make the humble umbrella a bit more durable and ergonomic. His Stay-brella can be leaned against a wall without falling down or have it stand on its own. You can even hang it off a table easily with the two prongs that stick out of the handle. If ever you find yourself in Japan one of these days, it is for sale at Seibu for about US$54.

While not as extensive in terms of products and categories offered as its larger US-based counterpart, Amazon.ca has developed into a very viable place to do one's online shopping. Thanks to the relative ease of use, that trusty One-Click purchasing button and some of the most informed user reviews. For Amazon users at a nominal price. I tested the service over the weekend and was quite impressed at how well it worked.
