Apple prepping for October 20th media event focusing on Mac OS

Apple has sent out invites to a "media event" set for October 20th. The most interesting thing about the invitation is the slogan "Back to Mac," as well as a sneak-peek at what looks to be a Lion, signifying the possible introduction of OS X 10.7 probably codenamed Lion. We're hoping that some new Macs will be announced at this event, hopefully a cheaper, smaller MacBook Air which hasn't seen an update for over a year.

Apple refreshes iPods, shrinks AppleTV into streaming terminal

The buzz and buildup leading to yesterday's Apple event was apparently justified. Announcements on the continuing iOS strategy, iPad software updates and the usual sales figures were quickly obscured by a series of big announcements in the personal media player space.

Apple to live stream launch event today

Apple's September 1 announcement/event is a few hours away and the reveal will be streamed live for Mac users at Apple.com. Apple is expected to unveil new iPod music players, possibly an updated AppleTV and an OS update to the iPad but there may be a few more surprises. Apple launch events are not traditionally streamed live but video is posted at a later date so we're wondering what makes this announcement different.
