CES 2013: Sharp shows off flair for innovation with Ultra HD and 8K concepts

Sharp has always been a standout at CES and this year is no different with an array of interesting new products and future technologies. Sharp announced game-changing display technologies along with its new line of AQUOS LED TVs and innovative products, providing consumers a glimpse of the future, today.

Announcements from Sharp include,IGZO (Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide); Ultra HD, the next generation of Quattron; and 8K technology. Sharp Canada launches largest 90-inch HDTV for $10,000

Sharp Electronics Canada launched the world’s largest LED smart TV, the 90-inch AQUOS LC-90LE745U. This new model rounds out Canada’s largest assortment of big screen TVs, including the market’s only 70-, 80- and 90-inch screens.

Standing nearly four feet tall and spanning six feet eight inches wide, the 90-inch AQUOS offers over two and a half times the viewing area of a 55-inch screen. It features cutting edge technology, including Smart TV functionality, built-in Wi-Fi and full internet connectivity for access to streaming video services, as well as an LED backlight and full HD 1080p (1920 x 1080) resolution. With such a stunning picture, sit as close as you like and see colours pop and never before seen details become visible.

Review: Sharp Aquos Quattron LE810 LED 40-inch HDTV

When I heard that Sharp was coming out with an HDTV that defied the trend and focused instead on enhancing the viewing experience by adding yellow to the RGB red, green and blue, I was a bit sceptical. After all, how much difference would and additional colour make in the scheme of things. Well, it turns out that adding yellow to RGB makes a big difference.
