No More In-app Purchases for Kobo users on iOS

Earlier this week, Apple instituted new rules which affect Kobo Reader app user's experience on iPhone and iPad apps. The biggest change is the removal of the ability to shop within the app. This is inconvenient to users since it now requires an extra step ( and Safari) to Browse and buy new books or newspapers.  Kobo is reportedly working on a HTML 5 version of their app that will allow the functionality as originally designed. Below is Kobo's statement on the matter.

Kobo closes $50 Million investment round, aims for global market

The eBook Reader segment is one of the fastest growing markets today. Toronto-based Kobo has closed a $50 Million investment round led by a leading institutional investor. The company plans on, among other things, a European expansion of its products and services. Existing investors also participated in the round; investing $13M. Why the Samsung Galaxy Tab may be the best eBook reading device today

If you discount the Samsung Galaxy Tab's relatively high price and focus on its  unique features (mobile hotspot, only 7-inch tablet in the market, dual-cameras and, okay, yeah, Adobe Flash) it really is a compelling tablet which can only get better once the Honeycomb OS (Android 3.0) is released by Google and Samsung sometime this year. With all the major eBook reader apps now available,  the Samsung Galaxy Tab is turning out to be the ultimate eBook reading device today.
