Google expands Quick Share-AirDrop compatibility with QR codes

Android Authority

Google has begun rolling out the QR code-based option for sharing between Quick Share and Apple AirDrop. This feature allows Android users without native Quick Share to AirDrop compatibility to still share files and photos.

With Quick Share, Android users can create a QR code that an iPhone user can scan. Once scanned, the file you want to send will be uploaded to the cloud and then transferred to your recipient without any additional apps needed from their end. If the feature isn't available for you yet, Google said it plans full availability on Android devices to come within the next month.

Source: MacRumors

The Google Pixel 9 can now transfer files easily to Apple's ecosystem. AirDrop support for Quick Share is coming to the Pixel 9 range after it initially launched for the newest Pixel 10 devices in November. With AirDrop interoperability, you can transfer files to an iPhone, iPad and Mac without needing an internet connection. Both Pixel and Apple products will need to have the "Everyone for 10 Minutes" option enabled in their settings to allow for the transfer.
