Bentley scraps most of its planned EVs

Source: Bentley

British luxury carmaker Bentley had ambitions to release five new electric vehicles by 2035. Now, only one of those five planned cars is set to launch as the automaker intends to focus on hybridization to help prop up its profits in the coming years. The only surviving model is the Urban SUV, which is scheduled for a reveal in 2027.

Bentley’s commitment to electrification remains intact. According to the Chief Executive Officer Frank Walliser, while hybrids will take center stage for now, the ultimate goal remains a 100% electric lineup—contingent on market appetite. “We have a very close eye on the development and acceptance of the EV market, especially in the upper segment. But the next car will not come before 2030,” Walliser said in an interview with Auto Express.
