Apple’s new security update adds biometric verification and security delay for your iPhone

Image: Apple

Apple’s new iPhone security update adds extra protection for your personal data. The Stolen Device Protection feature prevents thieves from accessing your information or changing your settings, even if they have your passcode. You will need to use Face ID or Touch ID to unlock your phone, view sensitive data, or make important changes.

Some actions—such as changing your Apple ID password or turning off Find My iPhone—will also require a one-hour security delay and a second biometric verification. This feature only works when you are away from familiar locations, such as your home or work, which your phone learns automatically. It is currently in beta testing, but it will be available for all iPhone users in a future software update.
