Apple tipped to bring Mini LED screen to the 11-inch iPad Pro

Photo by David Švihovec on Unsplash

When Apple launched the new Apple iPad Pro, it only brought its Mini LED screen to the 12.9-inch model. But according to analyst Ming-chi Kuo, the company plans to introduce the display to the 11-inch model next year. This screen technology uses thousands of tiny LEDs to create focused local dimming zones. The effect is you get better contrast and HDR performance.

On top of the iPads, Apple reportedly plans to bring this display tech to the MacBook series. The 14- and 16-inch models will reportedly go into production this quarter, while a redesigned MacBook Air with Mini LED screens is coming in 2022. Of course, all of this now is just speculation, and Kuo has previously claimed that cheaper iPad models are getting OLED panels.

Apple: Older Magic Keyboards are 'functionally compatible' with new 12.9" iPad Pro, but may not fit when closed

With the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro extra 0.5mm thickness over its predecessor, there has been concern that it won't work with older Magic Keyboards. But according to a new support document on the Magic Keyboard, it can work. The first-gen Magic Keyboards will be "functionally compatible." But because of the new tablet's thickness, Apple cautions that it's "possible" that it won't "precisely fit" when closed, especially if a screen protector is applied.

So, for iPad Pro users who still have the old Magic Keyboard and don't want to shell out the extra money for a new accessory, at least you have the option to use your existing one. The new 11-inch iPad Pro doesn't have the same issue as it comes in the same size as its predecessor.

The new 12.9-inch iPad Pro won't work with the older Magic Keyboard

If you thought your older Magic Keyboard would work with the new iPad Pro, we have some bad news. The 12.9-inch option will require the new Magic Keyboard to work. But the new Magic Keyboard will work with the third- and fourth-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro. It seems that because the new iPad Pro is slightly thicker, this might be causing the issue. The 11-inch model doesn't have the same problem as it has the same size and weight as its predecessor.
