Running app Runkeeper's new update makes it easier for you to log your progress. A new start screen gives you instant access to things like your music. It already lets you choose your workout from there, too, so you don't have to dig through menus to get started. The app also has new, brighter colors, new icons, and new illustrations to make it more fun to use. The update's now live for Apple users and is expected to be available for Android users this fall.

HTC made an announcement on its Weibo account that there will be a new smartphone heading our way on September 6th. It's rumoured to be the HTC Aero or One A9, which is said to resemble an iPhone. The post shows a glimpse of a smartphone with the words "Meng Yao" underneath it. When translated, this supposedly means "superior handsomeness."

The rumoured specs of this device include it having either  QHD or FHD display, MediaTek processor, 4GB of RAM, and an all-metal body. Of course, we don't know if this device will make it to this side of the world. But we will know more abou the device in the coming days.

Instagram now lets you use private messaging to send photos

Instagram has boosted its Direct messaging feature to let you have threaded conversations around public photos or shots taken instantly. Think of it as Instagram's way of taking on Snapchat. When you previously found an Instagram shot you liked, you would usually @-mention someone on the post. Now, you can just send the photo to your friend via Instagram Direct. All you need to do is tap on the arrow that's right beside the Like and Comment buttons. But, of course, the photo has to be set to public for you to share it, unless you and your friend both follow the private account. These photos will appear in the new threaded conversation format. You can even send hashtag pages and location pages through Instagram Direct.

The new Instagram Direct will also let you take quick snaps to send right away, rename your groups, and send emojis. The version 7.5 update is already available for both iOS and Android.

Samsung outs Gear S2 smartwatch

Samsung outs three new versions of its seventh smartwatch release. The Gear S2 smartwatch comes in classic, standard, and 3G. The classic model features a black case and black leather band. The standard version features a dark gray case and matching rubber band or silver case with white rubber band. And the 3G version has the same design of the standard but with 3G cellular network capabilities. Each version features an 11.4-millimeter thick watch with 1.2-inch diameter touch display (360 x 360 resolution). They run on a 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM, and 4GB internal storage space. Samsung promises a two- to three-day battery life. You can charge it wirelessly. It comes with NFC, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity options. And as mentioned before, it runs on Tizen.

You can navigate the interface by rotating the bezel or use the dedicated Home and Back buttons. It'll come with a 24-hour fitness activity log, similar to the Apple Watch, and help you track your fitness goals. No word on pricing and availability yet but we should hear more about it from IFA.
