An Amazon Alexa+ feature on the Fire TV will make it easier to get to your favourite movie scene on Prime Video. Using natural language voice command, Amazon said you can describe a scene, quote, or character action to start playing that portion of the movie. An example the company gave was saying something like "Jump to the card scene in Love Actually."
According to Amazon, Alexa+ can even figure out which movie you are referring to without mentioning the film. For example, you say, "Jump to the scene when John McClane says 'come out to the coast, we'll get together, have a few laughs,'" Prime Video will begin playing the part in Die Hard where McClane is in an air duct.
This feature is possible through the use of "visual understanding" and captions to tell what is happening on screen. Alexa+ has indexed thousands of scenes across thousands of movies on Prime Video so far, including those you can buy or rent. All the information is processed through Prime Video's X-Ray feature and built on Amazon Bedrock, using large language models such as Amazon Nova and Anthropic Claude. Amazon plans to add more movies and scenes in the future, along with TV shows.
