At WWDC 2026, Apple laid out its vision for embedding AI across its ecosystem. This fall, compatible Mac users can test-drive the upcoming Apple Intelligence features, spearheaded by a completely overhauled Siri AI. However, the most cutting-edge tools are exclusive to specific hardware. While the entire lineup below supports the upcoming macOS 27 Golden Gate, unlocking top-tier AI performance requires an M3 chip and at least 12GB of RAM.
These are the compatible models:
- MacBook Air: M1 (2020) through M4 (2025) models
- MacBook Pro: M1 (2020), 2021 M1 Pro/Max (14" and 16"), and all M2, M3, and M4 variants
- MacBook Neo: A18 Pro models
- iMac: 24-inch M1 (2021) and all M3-generation or newer models
- Mac mini: M1 (2020) and all M2, M2 Pro, and M4 models onward
- Mac Studio: M1 Max/Ultra (2022) and all subsequent generations
macOS 27 Golden Gate introduces system-wide AI enhancements to Spotlight, Safari, Photos, and Shortcuts. Mac users will enjoy the same Siri upgrades coming to iPhone, such as fluid, context-aware conversations and cross-device syncing. The real star of macOS, however, is the revamped Spotlight, which now acts as a central hub for searching, comparing, and modifying your documents. Additionally, Safari gains AI-driven tab management, live page monitoring, AI-generated extensions, and easier automation using plain-English descriptions.
