Apple reportedly eyes flip-style iPhone

Beyond its rumoured first foldable, Apple is reportedly already planning to develop a flip-style foldable next. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman noted that the first foldable iPhone is still several months away, but the company is already thinking about its next-generation device.

Gurman said the product is "far from guaranteed to reach the market." However, the tech giant is betting that the upcoming foldable will drive demand for the category, and it wants to develop additional offerings to cater to different users.

Apple tipped to integrate a vapour chamber into 2027 iPad Pro

Apple's 2027 iPad Pro is expected to be a lot cooler, literally. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports that Apple plans to integrate a vapour chamber into the tablet. In theory, that should help these Pro devices perform much more efficiently, particularly when running resource-hungry tasks. According to Gurman, the 2027 iPad Pro will also sport Apple's new M6 SoC, which is expected to be manufactured on TSMC's 2nm process.

Apple is reportedly going to break convention and name its 2027 iPhone the iPhone 20, rather than the iPhone 19, as part of the smartphone's 20th anniversary celebration. Research firm Omdia's senior analyst, Heo Moo-yeol, asserted the claim, with reports indicating that the iPhone 20 will be released in the first half of 2027, rather than the usual fall launch. The tech giant will reportedly debut the iPhone 18e and the second-generation version of its rumoured iPhone Fold device.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 20 Air, iPhone 20 Pro, and iPhone 20 Pro Max are expected to be released in the second half of 2027. Another interesting note in the report is that Apple might drop its standard iPhone 18 model in 2026 and focus on its premium models, including the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone 18 Air, along with the first foldable iPhone.
