Gemini's document upload feature now free for all users

Google Gemini users can now upload and analyze documents and spreadsheets without a Gemini Advanced subscription. Previously, this feature, which allows users to get answers, generate summaries, and create charts from uploaded files, was exclusive to paying subscribers.

Reports on Reddit confirm the rollout, with users now able to upload various file types, including text, code, documents (including PDFs and Google Docs), and spreadsheets (including Google Sheets).

Gemini App gets speed boost with Gemini 2.0 Flash

The Gemini app just got a whole lot faster. Google has rolled out Gemini 2.0 Flash, a new model promising quicker responses and improved performance across various benchmarks. You can expect a smoother experience when brainstorming, learning, or writing, making Gemini an even more helpful tool for everyday tasks.  

While all users benefit from 2.0 Flash, Gemini Advanced subscribers retain access to the powerful 1M token context window, enabling them to upload and process up to 1,500 pages of files. They also continue to enjoy priority access to features like Deep Research and Gems.

Google Gemini comes to Nest, Google Home

Google was bound to bring its Gemini artificial intelligence model to products like the Nest and Home platform. The fall update brings some features to these segments. With a Nest camera, you can look through the camera history using natural language queries. For example, you can ask, "Did someone deliver a package today?" This feature is limited to Nest Aware Plus subscribers, but it might not come to all paid users, for now.
