Bluesky CEO steps down from role

Jay Graber, the chief executive officer of Bluesky since 2021, is leaving her position and transitioning to chief innovation officer of the social platform. "As Bluesky matures, the company needs a seasoned operator focused on scaling and execution, while I return to what I do best: building new things," Graber wrote in a blog post.

Taking over as temporary CEO is Toni Schneider, the former CEO of WordPress parent Automattic. Graber also remains a member of the company's board of directors and will help determine who the permanent leader of the platform will be.

The March 2026 Pixel Drop introduces several enhancements to the Pixel Watch lineup, prioritizing user safety and seamless integration with the Pixel ecosystem. A major highlight is the expansion of Satellite SOS to Canada, Europe, Hawaii, and Alaska, allowing Pixel Watch 4 users to contact emergency services even when off the grid. Additionally, standalone earthquake alerts are now available on Pixel Watch 2 and newer models, providing potentially life-saving seconds of notice by notifying users of an earthquake's magnitude. For everyday security, the "Phone lock on disconnect" feature automatically locks a paired phone when the watch moves out of Bluetooth range, preventing unauthorized access.

Efficiency and personalization also take center stage in this update. Pixel Watch 3 users can now utilize one-handed gestures, such as a double pinch or wrist turn, to answer calls, snap photos, or pause workouts. Finding misplaced items is simplified with the new Find Hub, which allows users to locate devices directly from their wrist.

TikTok does not plan to use end-to-end encryption for direct messages, saying it puts users at risk

TikTok is bucking the industry trend by refusing to adopt end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for its direct messages, claiming the move would compromise user safety. In a briefing with BBC News at its London office, the social media company argued that because E2EE limits message access strictly to the sender and recipient, it would prevent safety teams and law enforcement from detecting real-world harms, like grooming and harassment. TikTok also noted that all direct messages on its platform are still secured using standard encryption.
