Parker Probe: Close to touching the sun on Christmas Eve

NASA's Parker Solar Probe is on a daring mission to get closer to the sun than ever before. On Christmas Eve at 6:53 a.m. ET, it will break its own record for the nearest approach to the sun at 6.1 million kilometres (3.8 million miles). It will also be the fastest human-made object ever, reaching a scorching speed of 430,000 mph (700,000 km/h).

Razer outs 'Squid Game'-themed accessories

The newest Razer collaboration is with the hit Netflix show Squid Game. The partnership reminds us that the show is returning for its second season on December 26. Razer released different accessories to celebrate the launch, including iPhone cases, a mouse and its accessories, and a mouse mat. There are new cases for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15.

Razer also released Squid Game-themed Orochi V2 mouse and top shells to match, as well as a Gigantus V2 mouse mat. These new accessories are available exclusively through Razer's website. You can learn more here.

Apple's AirTag tipped to feature longer range

It might be easier to search for the next-generation Apple AirTag. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports in his Power On newsletter that Apple is working on an AirTag featuring a new ultrawide-band chip similar to the iPhone 15. This processor could triple the range of the rumoured AirTag compared to the current AirTag, which can locate items with Precision Finding from around 10 to 30 meters away.

Apple reportedly doubles down on chips: Modem and Wi-Fi go in-house

Apple's ambitious chip strategy continues to unfold, with two significant shifts poised to reshape its product landscape. One is the long-anticipated transition to Apple-designed cellular modems. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports in his Power On newsletter that this project is nearing fruition. These chips, set to debut in the 2024 iPhone SE and a slimmer iPhone model, will supposedly gradually replace Qualcomm components across the iPhone, iPad, and other Apple devices by early 2027.
